What is worth knowing before you come to Bemposta. The village is small: bring what you need with you.
Getting here
- The nearest town is Penamacor, about 15 km away (some 20 minutes by car), on the EN 233 and then the EM 564.
- From Castelo Branco it is about 33 km (some 40 minutes), also on the EN 233 and the EM 564.
- Buses serve the village. Check the timetable before you travel.
Where to park
- By the Junta de Freguesia (the parish council), beside the museum.
- By the Igreja Matriz, on the main road, next to the bar.
- There are also a few spaces by the castle.
Food and drink
The village's one bar is Via da Estrela – Bar Bemposta, open Wednesday to Sunday, 5pm to 9pm. Its contact details are on the local services page.
Bemposta has no shop, cash machine, pharmacy or petrol station.
Toilets
There are public toilets by the bar, open at all times.

What to see
The places to visit are under attractions, with a map.
To visit the museum (Núcleo Museológico) you need to ask for the key: contact the Junta de Freguesia or Penamacor's Câmara Municipal beforehand.
For walkers
- Water: there is a free spring by the Junta de Freguesia and another opposite the bar.
- Shelter: there are no rest areas or picnic spots. The only shelter is the bus stops.
- Geocaching: there is a geocaching trail in the area, for those who know it.
Bemposta lies on the Via da Estrela.
